Trouble can be created and/or found anywhere in the area; as can safe areas of enjoyment! Folks should not be put off from bringing their children to live with them here in TV because of 'surrounding areas'.

I totally disagree! The surrounding towns of Wildwood, Lady Lake, Oxford, and Leesburg are NOT as safe as The Villages! The burglars thar have been caught are from those areas. They are all pretty seedy towns with lots of poverty and above national average in crimes.
