Default You've Reached The Same Conclusion As I Have

Even though I was a longtime DirecTV subscriber up north, I was talked into subscribing to Comcast by TV Comcast office. One argument was that with Florida weather, there were too many interruptions with a dish.

What I found was that Comcast's installers were incompetent, their equipment was awful, their programming nowhere near as good as in other parts of the U.S. and their pricing too high for the sub-standard product. Finally, I was told the same as you--that Comcast had not made the necessary capital investment in central Florida and that much of the programming and new services, like On Demand, were not available here. And they could provide no estimate of when they'd improve service other than "in a couple of years". Furthermore, I found from neighbors that had satellite dishes that the steeper angle to the SAT from here makes service interruptions less frequent than what we experienced in the upper Midwest!

I switched to DirecTV, returned all of Comcast's equipment, and have been happy as a clam ever since. Comcast's response? They jacked up my broadband cable service from $42.95 to $59.95 because I wasn't a cable TV subscriber. There will be competition for broadband service sometime in the future and when that happens, Comcast will be in my tail lights!
