Debbie - Just a suggestion. Tile backsplash is a relatively easy DIY project. You will need to rent or purchase a tile cutting saw, glue and grout and you are on your way. Lowes or Home Depot will put you on the right track. I installed a tile backsplash in my CYV here and in my home in CT when we remodeled the kitchen.
Just a thought and you have to feel comfortable in your abilities to start the project. Good luck
