Armed robbery under investigation at Evans Prairie Country Club
An armed robbery which took place between 1 and 1:30 a.m. today at Evans Prairie Country Club is under investigation by the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.
An employee of the country club was closing up when he was approached by a masked man armed with a weapon, according to Lt. Chris Hayworth of the sheriff’s office.
An undisclosed amount of money was taken.
A second individual was said to have been spotted by the country club employee, Hayworth said.
Both the of suspects are black males, Hayworth said.
The employee dialed 911 after the pair left.
Detectives were re-interviewing the employee this afternoon to try to learn more details.
The armed robbery remains under investigation.
Evans Prairie Country Club is located at 1825 Evans Prairie Trail south of County Road 466A in The Villages.
