You head the nail on the head. I spent over 33 years on the auto claims field including writing policy language and managing litigation against a major insurer and this statement is pure BS.
I also have a close personal friend who works for the Villages Golf Cart repair facility. He knows of no insurance company who ever came and checked the speed of any golf cart under repair from any accident. He did indicate that in some instance Florida HP who were investigating accidents did show up once in a while and check if the cart was modifies. . He doesn't know of any times an insurer denied a claim for a "high speed" cart.
Aside from that, how does and insurance company "impound" your vehicle, that they don't own? Pure nonsense!
