I am also familiar with Veteran's Benefits and please note that the Assisted Living's all take Veterans Benefits because it comes in to the account of the person who is eligible, just like social security. It is a cash benefit that you use to help pay for the rent and care. It is never directed to the care facility.

Jane - I have to admit when I read this info about Veteran's Benefits I wondered about you. So I did some research and am very impressed with the fact you know about this program that supposedly even folks working at the VA don't know about. I would say if your knowledge is this extensive you can probably be a wealth of information and I hope the OP takes advantage of what you have to offer. Thanks for taking care of our parents' needs.
