One of the things I do here (up north) is shop at Costco. I have a food vacuum sealer and just separate the meats/chicken/fish into two people portions (or more if I know company is coming). This process saves time and money because buying in quantiles is cheaper in the long run. I think Glad now has a hand vacuum that seals food and I'm sure it can be found in any grocery store.
