With flea allergy dermatitus it doesn't even have to be a flea making them nuts, sometimes it's the flea poop.
My dog is white, it's easy to see on a white dog, looks like specks of pepper. This becomes a problem because even if you use the spot on flea stuff they sometimes poop before they're gone.
The other thing is if they've had a flea you might want to worm them for tapeworm.
