Years ago, I lived across the street from the Atlantic Ocean in a little town called Wilbur by the Sea. I was friends with a woman who had an oceanfront house and she knew I'd never experienced a big Florida thunderstorm. She called after the storm had passed and asked this young girl from the coalfields and mountains in Virginia what I thought.
Well, I was terrified and said I was ready to move back home. Palm trees were bent nearly touching the ground and things were flying by my windows. She just laughed and said the trees are made to bend in the wind and she told me to wait until we got a real storm, a tropical storm or a hurricane. Then you can be scared.
Storms in Florida are powerful without any mountains to hold back the winds and rain. The lightening is beautiful and dangerous. Be safe:
