Congratulations on the success of your hip replacement. My husband had his about 3 years ago and is back to hitting the pavement with his running shoes for the last 2 1/2 years.
What he has learned is to ask to go through the image machines at the airport. He shows his card that he has a metal hip and that is almost useless. When going through the metal detector it's guaranteed he'll be frisked.
PT was a tremendous help and something we both think helped him have such a quick and good recovery. It wasn't always easy and they liked to challenge him, but it was was what gave him the ability to get back to normal activity.
