Well, the invisible fence has not worked for us . . . yet. My husband intertwined the wire in the hedges. Hopefully, if our shrubs ever grow tall enough, we will have better luck.

Our Dobie jumped the hedge and because she was high up when she jumped, the signal didn't work. Actually, we laughed about it wondering if she was really that smart!

But yes. Invisible fences do work, but I still wouldn't let a dog out without me being there.
