I was born in 1951 so I was there for most of those years. I remember getting up at 4 am to deliver newspapers year-round in Ohio. I remember getting mad at the social worker wanting to cut my mother's only income from ADC of $135/month by the $20 month I made delivering those papers. I remember getting my first cooking lesson's from my mother since she was unable to get out of bed due to having MS. I remember learning how to paint when I painted the exterior of the home. I remember the Sisters' of the Poor dropping off bags of groceries. I remember my mother being the strongest person in the face of adversity I have ever met. I learned a lot in that decade not from being a kid but a lot about life.
