Default Comcast v Centurylink

No, this isn't another request to see which is best, as I already know from TOTV that both are bottom-of-the-barrel internet providers.

I have been with Centurylink for four years, but for the past six months not an hour has gone by without my connection being dropped. It always comes back a few minutes later but, since I use the internet to stream TV programs, it is a real pain reloading them and getting back to the point I had reached. I have had numerous Centurylink engineers round, changed my modem and my wiring, but no change and no real concern from Centurylink so I have just cancelled and signed up for Comcast.

Now, my question: I have signed up for one year at $19.95 after which the rate goes up. In your experience, what is the best way to get a good deal after one year?

Does anyone have the direct number or e-mail address for a friendly Comcast operative who can be sweet-talked into renewing at $19.95 or, at least, an amount that is reasonable?

Thank you
