Hundreds of books have been written about diet and exercise. It's part of our free market economy. Capitalism.

Yet every year more new diets are introduced. The same applies to magic diet bills, reducing equipment , etc.

Those who are only casual observers and haven't really done their homework are the most likely to get fooled and taken advantage of.

Right, anyone who's been to the Limbaugh School of Nutrition knows better.

Many of these myths are now coming to light butter is not a problem, meat is not a problem in fact if you are over 65 you need more protein....yes I know vegetables contain proteins.

How does one decide which is the myth and which is the truth? I think too often it's decided by what the person likes to eat. Those who have a natural dislike of vegetables and legumes etc. will decide to believe in those who promote animal protein and saturated fats.

What is really bothering me is that I am tired of other people being so preoccupied about what foods other people eat and how much. It has become an obsession with some folks.

What's worse, in my opinion, is people being preoccupied with eating and becoming overweight and obese. Two thirds of people in the U.S. are overweight and one half of them are obese. (1/3 + 1/3 = 2/3) This has had a profound effect on the overall health status of Americans. And as health care costs and insurance premiums have risen over the years, more and more people were unable to afford health care. This, in my opinion, is the reason why so many Americans were eager to see universal health care enacted into law.
This should be a good reason to be interested in this subject because it has a huge impact on how we practice free market economics.
