The standard battery configuration for most golf carts is 4/12 volt batteries. Not familiar with the Precedent, but check to see if you can put a larger battery capacity in it as an option, like a 6/8 volt configuration. More batteries=more range. But to answer your question, I have a 4 passenger EZGO with the 4/12 volt batteries and 20 miles is no problem. Just remember that the extra weight of the additional passengers will reduce your range somewhat.
I would also look into getting a Battery Minder. You can google that and read all about it for more information. Batteries over the years accumulate sulfur deposits, which weaken the batteries over time. The Battery Minder works to de-sulfurize the batteries, thus extending their useful life.
