The challenge is that there are a lot of retired law enforcement folks down here with varied backgrounds. Four suggestions:

1) Look at whatever your specialty or alternate training. For example, the folks from IRS/CI are often trained as forensic accountants or computer systems analysts (to find "hidden" data). An alternative might be with a large accounting firm that wants a forensic person. You may find that those skills will take you further than straight law enforcement.Same thing for physical security at ports or airports.

2) Look at slower paced stuff at Disney or Universal. A lot of the Disney security folks are former LEOs. No weapons, but big on trying to ID potential problem people in crowds and, well, keep them from causing problems. (Ever notice that you rarely heard about robberies, etc at theme parks? Not just management of the press).

3) From your screen name, I assume that you have K-9 experience. If that included training, there are a number of organizations in FL who train service and law enforcement animals. Your background may be a real plus with them.

4) Check on the ciminal justice programs at area (including Orlando) colleges. You may be able to teach as an adjunct. Pay isn't always great, but it is a chance to pass your experience on to the next generation.

Good luck.
