You're right on....People shouldn't expect to move 1000 miles south and think the summers will be just like "back home".
I've heard people say that this is a hot summer. This is my 61st summer in Fla and I've never seen a cool one. Some are a few degrees cooler or hotter but who can tell the difference? I do know though as I get older I can take the heat and cold less than when younger.
