I have done several things to moderate the garage temperature. Goal is to have the garage warmer in winter and cooler in summer. I started this by trying to track how much each change impacted the temperature, but there are so many variables I gave up. The first step was to insulate the garage doors. This is complete and did improve the summer heat issue. My garage has a very steep roof and I am actually finishing a 18 X 10 room over the garage. This is a work in progress. I installed two ceiling fans in the garage and I am not sure it has lowered the temperature, but it sure feels better with the air movement. I am insulating all sides of the room and have installed a ceiling fan up there as well. Also have done the whole house radiant barrier and this made a significant difference in the house cooling. This is also over the garage. Once the room is finished I will also complete R-19 insulation over the remainder of the garage. Each step has made an improvement, I just can't rank them as to which is best, and next best etc.
