To put the 30-50% into context, this pandemic killed somewhere between 100-200 million people during the Middle Ages. In addition, total world population was then about 375 million. Today it's about 7 billion, roughly 20x larger.
So I guess if you were amongst the 30-50% that died from the Black Death aka Bubonic Plague, you were then NOT better off?
