Why Ebola Dominates The News
The simple answer is that those charged with containing this deadliest of deadly diseases have both past and present failed to show they are competent and hence the public at large just does not trust them.
"In 1948 the United Nations chartered the World Health Organization (WHO) granting it authority for directing internal health work.
Over 30 years it has shown a deteoriation for dealing with epidemics and on 4 occasions failed to deal effectively with major outbreaks.
In 1980 WHO underestimated the AIDS/HIV outbreak which prompted the UN in 1994 to create Joint UN Program on AIDS/HIV (Unaids)
In 2009 WHO was slow to respond to the H1N1 flu pandemic. an investigative panel in 2011 slammed WHO for lack of transparency, poor external communication, management conflicts and needlessly complex.
In 2010 WHO failures in dealing with Haiti's cholera out break that spread so fast because of bureaucratic bungling it reached Dominican Republic, Cuba and Mexico.
WHO today is dealing with Ebola which has spread to seven countries, a disease which was discovered in 1972 and where Dr. Piot founder of Unaid blames WHO's regional office in Africa calling it incompetent............WSJ 10/22/14"
As a side bar Ebola Czar Klain was the PR guy who instructed VP Joe Biden during the H1N1 scare to strongly emphasis to the public not to travel which about shut the entire world down and that the White House had to walk back.
If you note much of the news about Ebola is what the experts are doing or not doing and not the disease itself.
I opine other can decide
