When I joined the Secret Service we had a PT boat to use as the protective escort for the Presidential yacht Sequoia. To my dismay, President Carter sold the Sequoia. The Secret Service boat, PT- 809 (Guardian) was scrapped in 1990. I wish it could have been preserved.

It's truly a shame that we destroy, sell, or dismantle so many things that are historically noteworthy. Didn't the Feds recently sell a retired aircraft carrier for $1 to scrap?
