A lot of the desensitization comes from the favorite "news" broadcasters not even
mentioning such things as the ISIS atrocities and latest beheadings.
Here are two example screenshots I just took. This is a big reason for how opinions are formed, and for how ignorance can actually
increase by reading/hearing the news on only 1 or 2 sites or channels in a given hour:
