About 20 yrs. ago I was working at an eye surgicenter and our boss, opthamologist, offered us free RK surgery. I had my left eye done first, which turned out very well, and a year later had the right eye done. The right eye developed astigmatism which I did not have previous to the surgery, a possibility that I was aware of. Earlier, I was able to get by with only reading glasses, but the astigmatism has worsened, so that I need prescription glasses to drive. My concern now is what is the integrity of the cornea when I eventually need cataract surgery. RK involved actual cuts on the cornea to flatten the cornea. This procedure was the precursor to Lasik.
