Default How to Post Pictures on TOTV. Step #1

Last week when we announced that we would post instructions on how to post pictures, we suggested that you select a digital picture that you would be using for this lesson. We assume that you have done so and that it is located in a file someplace on your hard drive. Please know exactly where that picture is because we are going to go and get it in a few minutes.

How are we going to get that picture on Talk of The Villages (TOTV)? Well, here’s the deal. When your picture is located on YOUR hard drive, you can look at it, but Talk of The Villages can’t because we don’t have access to YOUR hard drive. We do, however, have access to the internet, so you have to put it there.

Don’t be frightened, it’s real easy.

There are lots of places on the internet where you can store your pictures, but we like
http://www.photobucket.com
because it’s easy to use and it’s free. You do have to register, but again, it’s free unless you upgrade to a commercial account.

When you finish reading this, go to http://www.photobucket.com.

There, you will be asked to fill out the usual log-in and password stuff to register. Now, they apparently have some kind of special deal going with ATT about cell phones and they try to get you to sign up for something, but ignore that and keep clicking on “next” at the top of the page.

Soon, you will be at the page where you can now upload your picture.

You will see a Choose files button under Upload Images & Videos.
When you click on that, the contents of YOUR hard drive
will now be visible and you can go to where your picture is located.
  • Click on the picture you wish to upload, and it will upload.
  • When it is done, if you click Save and Continue you can upload another.
  • If you are done, click Return to album.

In a matter of a few seconds (depending on how big the picture file is) your picture will be uploaded and will be located on the internet, ready for Step 2.
