I noticed the same changes when we returned a few weeks ago. I think it is the realization that few people get their news from newspapers anymore and that the only way to survive is to concentrate on the local. You can see the same changes in local news casts. Watch the local news sports, there is no coverage of major leagues, just local teams.
Up until this year I taught a course at a local university in their MBA program. I had to stop asking my students if they saw a relevant article in the local paper because none of them read the local paper. The Daily Sun is just trying to stay relevant. As a wise politician said "All politics are local".
