What I try to do is give as much as I can to others. I never pass a Salvation Army bucket without dropping something in it. I make sure my grandson drops off a gift for Toys for Tots. And so on. It is up to each individual to make sure that this is the season of giving. If you can't give something monetary, give of yourself. Find the time to visit someone housebound. Help a cancer patient get ready for Christmas. Give a caretaker a break and stay with their loved one for an afternoon.
We can bemoan that Christmas has become too commercial or we can do what we can to help make it a season of joy for ourselves and for those who need.
