To OP, just went through the same thing. Back in late August, caught mild cold, and the "normal" cough for -2 weeks. Except this time the cough was violent with vomiting. Went to Doctor, not much help. Went to ENT, initially minor help, then put me in a pill Singular, this is working very well. All told, took about 3 months to get rid of the cough completely, never had anything like this before.
My advise, see your doctor, and if they do not help see an ENT.
