You should be using non ethanol gas available at village golf. But it’s your call.

10% ethanol gas (87 octane gas at most pumps) is fine, as per the owner's manual from the manufacturer.

If it was me that would trigger a Service Call. Where did you fuel up last and when was the last time you fueled up?

My 2017 cart did the same thing. Correction made by Villages golf cart store and have not had a problem since. Covered under warranty. Mine was doing what you described. Correction had nothing to do with gasoline.

My 2017 had same symptoms. Failure of muffler/exhaust system was the cause. Warranty covered it!

Same thing happened to me, your Yamaha muffler points straight down so they installed a spark arrestor screen which carbons up. Service cleaned it for us , but in the process cracked the muffler, replaced under warranty

Default Yamaha Carts

I would never own a gas golf cart that has no oil filter, My club car has not one but two fuel filters. Seems to me every time I see a cart broke down on the side of the road it’s a Yamaha,

Sounds like you might need a governor adjustment. Yamaha dealer will figure it out unless you know something about how to speed it up or slow it down. Doesn’t sound like a big deal!

The splash lubrication systems, which don’t have an oil filter, are effective and widely used in small, air cooled engines. Yamaha warranties their engines for 5000 hours if you use their oil and follow their maintenance schedule. In other word, the engine will outlast the rest of the cart. It simply isn’t an issue.

Regarding seeing more Yamaha carts on the side of the road, I would expect this as there are way more Yamaha carts than any other brand. The only number of value is the rate of failure across different brands and I am pretty sure you don’t have that data.

Spark Arrester is clogged. You can take it off ( very simple). If it is only losing about 4 MPH, could be the secondary clutch is ready to come apart. Warranty will take care of that also, its a common issue.
