Alumacar First Impressions
Just took delivery of a new Alumacar "Street Legal" from Don's golf carts. As it came off the truck the Misses remarked it looked like a used cart. Pretty dirty and rust on seat belt inserts and the frame. Took it out the first night and found the rear lights did not work. Some pounding in the front end from the windshield banging on the frame. Believe the tires are out of round. The ride seems pretty good besides the tire problem and plenty of power with the Curtis 18HP AC brush-less motor. Like the two switch setting for 15MPH in golf cart mode and 25 plus in road mode. Going up Mallory hill it slows to about 19.5 MPH worst case. Runs 27.4 on the level stretches....the same down hill with the regenerative braking system!

I'm disappointed to see these comments about Don's Golf Carts. I have done business with Ed at Don's for years and just got off of the phone with him. He has always been fair with both sales and service. When he first started to sell the Alumacar line he let me used one for a couple of days. I was quite impressed and if I were in the market for a new cart I would put it on my list. He did tell me about the front tire issue a while ago and that it was being resolved.
As far as floriri's comment, "a cheap greedy dealer who does not care about building new jobs in America or starting a thriving business", I think you are way off base. He has been in business for years and has obviously created jobs in the local area. (He opened his second location last year.) Maybe he doesn't have the shinny showroom you expected but don't always judge a book by the cover. (There are some great restaurants in South Phili that are nothing more than a hole in the wall.) As far as the delivery. "delivered when we conveniently weren't home"? Do you really think they drove around waiting for you to leave? I mentioned the detailing to Ed and he admitted he has had some issues with his staff's attention to detail when preparing a cart for delivery. BTW, a good friend of mine just bought a new EZ-Go, but the first thing he told me about it was it was delivered dirty. Anyway, as I mentioned earlier, after reading this I called Ed and he was genuinely concerned about these comments and I hope no one else has issues like those mentioned above. I recommend calling Ed personally to get your issues resolved. For the record I am just a customer of Don's Golf Carts. I don't own it, Ed and I aren't old buddies, etc. The reason for my response is my total satisfaction with his sales and service.

Alumacar Apology
I frankly came into the site to remove my prior comments as they were unjust and saw your message. I am still learning about the Alumacar and panicked unnecessarily as all issues are being addressed and reasonable solutions were suggested. I owe my apology to Ed as welll as I anticipated a battle when addressing customer service issues and I didn't have one. I jumped the gun. With the suggested changes, we think we'll really enjoy our Alumacar cart.

Inexcuseable to deliver a brand new golf cart that is dirty. It's lacking presentation and poor attention to details that make a big difference.
Ed at Don's or Don or somebody at that establishment needs to address this situation with hunt9791 personally then write a formal check list for his delivery staff to prevent further incidences like this. Out of round tires are forgiven...a banging windshield and filth shouldn't be. |

Alumacar
Yes, I agree that my level of angst would have been less if i didn't have to address these issues and the cart was delivered in tip top condition, so I wouldn't have to follow up on a used looking part.

florlrl, Us Jr members have to stick together (I need two more posts to catch up with ya):')
After sleeping on my new cart delivery check list suggestion, I feel very strongly good ole Ed at Don's needs do it. Get this, they can't deliver a new cart to an excited new cart owner until said new cart owner and cart delivery guy have both gone through and signed off the check list. I sure like the folks that post on this board. If it wasn't for dirty new carts and dogs pooping uncontrolled in the Villages, it sure would be a boring life. Dirty Carts and Dog Poop
LOL...unfortunately, I'm an owner of the dreaded pooping dog but since moving to The Villages, I have been trying to train her to use Pampers. All kidding aside, I can understand non-pet owners frustration especially when there is no pick up..yuck. I personally get peeved with golfers climbing through my landscaping rocks looking for lost balls so we all have our issues and I'm trying to be more patient
Back to carts, I know that Tomberlin's carts are detailed by a local villager (Joel aka Jimmy Buffets) who hangs out at Starbucks and he just got the Par Car business. I would hope that Ed look into hiring him too. He's very good at catching things that the dealers miss. I appreciate the back up. |

Put the dog poop you scooped up on those landscaping rocks for the hacker golfers to enjoy while searching for balls.
Or put up a sign that "balls out of bounds are a stroke and distance" or better yet, put up a sign to "play it where it lies"..a few broken clubs should solve the problem. |

Golf carts are a fairly high end purchase so I would expect some attention to detail upon delivery. Out of round tires, a rattle in the windshield at speed - I can see where those might not be detected before delivery but would expect corrections with a smile and an apology one I brought them to the dealers attention. Delivery a new but dirty cart - unexcusable! I've purchased many cars - new and used - and often they are presented to me still dripping wet for a last minute wash and vacuum by the dealer. I would expect no less on a new golf cart delivery.

Fixed it
When my new cart was sent back in to Don, his folks corrected the cut list from the rear lights that did not work, rattling windshield, the pounding in the front end and the detailing that needed to be done for a new cart delivery. Cart has over 500 miles and we have enjoyed it....
