A couple of weeks ago I got my 2010 Club Car LSV renewal from Allstate, $558.85 for six months, up from $351.00. That is a 28% increase. That was the last straw.
Found this link on TOTV explaining the process: https://www.talkofthevillages.com/fo...packet-lsv.pdf Verified with local DMV that this was the correct process. Called Ken Spano. The service call was $45, plus $25 to reprogram the controller to limit speed to 19.9 mph. I needed a couple of minor repairs that were include in the service call, so the cost was very reasonable. You just fill out and sign the affidavit, no supporting documents are required. You have to take the form, title and plate to the Region II office in Ocala (a small building next door to the DMV office), pay them $40, and a week later you get back a letter stating that the plate and title have been cancelled, and a small sticker that goes on the back of the cart. Easy, and will save me over $1,000 per year. It is ridiculous that the legislature passed a law to do this conversion, rather than fix the law requiring LSV Golf Carts to be insured as vehicles. Treating LSV Golf Carts like Motorcycles would have fixed the insurance problem. As it stands now, a LSV Golf Cart is rated as a motor vehicle with NO safety features. |

Glad you had a good experience with Spano. I needed my battery meter replaced and called them. They came and replaced the meter and within 10 minutes of the guy leaving, I found that my stereo no longer worked. They came back the next day, couldn't figure it out, so they sent another guy (supposed stereo "expert") who couldn't figure it out. Now they act like they don't even know who I am. They screw up my system and just walk away. Shysters.

The cart is in limbo during this process. If you are pulled over before the plate is cancelled, you are driving a vehicle without a plate. Insurance is also a question. Did not want to risk the mail. Had a nice dinner in Ocala.
