Default Electric Carts with AC Motors

An AC motor is far more efficient, powerful, and maintenance free (No brushes to wear out). Some carts sold in TV with AC motors:

E-Z-GO RXV
E-Z-GO TXT 72-Volt
Yamaha PTV AC
Tomberlin
Star Magellan model
ParCar Mainstreet model (Saturday morning cartoon cart )

The Tomberlin, Star, ParCar can be registered for road use if you want. I recommend the Tomberlin LE model but test drive them all. Why pay $12K for a gussied-up Yamaha when you can have a Tomberlin LE for $11K?

I have a new ezgo with AC motor. Very impressed. Only cart I have driven where going up hill the cart accelerates up to 20 MPH with ease even with full load. I have noticed battery drain is very low on long rides. Cart accelerates very fast. It has much more torque than my two previous DC drive carts. With AC motor the cart automatically brakes when ignition switch is shut off. I wonder why other cart manufacturers have not gone to AC motors. Maybe someone can explain why some leading manufactures have not switched to AC motors.

Forgot about the EZGO 72-volt cart...Head snapping acceleration...0-20 MPH in about 3 seconds. It even has a switch to turn it down so you won't rip up the golf courses.

AC motors are about 20% more efficient but the AC motors and controllers are expensive to produce.
EZGO has been doing AC for many years and the rest are starting to follow.

Our 2016 Yamaha electric cart has an AC motor. It is extremely peppy from a complete stop. I guess the proper term is torque. I'm very impressed with the acceleration from this electric cart. It is so much better than the acceleration from the 2017 Yamaha gas carts.
