Default Gas Golf Cart Question

I am considering purchasing a gas golf cart. I am the first to admit I know little about these. So, as I have been shopping around, I am told that the 2013 and 2014 carts will be fuel injected and, therefore, be quieter and less smelly. Does anyone know anything about this and what are your thoughts. I want this to be the last cart I buy for a long time, so I want to get my facts straight. Talking to salesman does not always equal true facts! So, opinions please. Thanks!

Yamaha introduced fuel injection in mid 2012. I don't think they are any more quiet. Might be less smelly though not sure. I owned a 2008 and now a 2014 fuel injected model. I do notice better gas mileage.

When I bought my gas cart, the dealer was very clear that the FI carts were not quieter than the non-FI carts.

That is correct both the non efi and efi are the same as far as engine noise is concerned. The efi fumes are indeed a little less intense with the exhaust fumes while riding with the windshield in the up position but some fumes are still present. The reason yamaha switched to efi was for a few reasons. A little better emissions for less pollution, better fuel mileage, better starting no choke needed for the northerners in cold temps, and lastly less issues with the ethanol fuel gumming up the jets in the carb. Ethanol can still be a problem on the injectors but not as bad as the carb. If you can get a carb cart for 600-700 cheaper than the efi i would get the carb if its 500$ or less get the efi.

I love being able to listen to my radio as I use my cart is electric I do not want to get into a debate here we all know the pluses and minuses. The noise from every gas cart I have used has been unable to listen to the radio, just an fyi

I have a 2014 fuel injected Yamaha and don't find it much quieter but
the gas smell isn't there.
I was originally electric all the way but living south of 466A made
me go gas (that and no gas smell).

2013 Yamaha EFI and couldn't be happier. Its gas so yes there are some fumes and noise but no gas odor in the garage.
Maintenance is once a year for an oil change.
Use Yamaha brand gas stabilizer or marine blue Stabil in each fillup.
Oh yeah keep a 2.5 gallon gas can on hand. Top off your cart and then refill the can the next time you get gas in your car.
In 1.5 years I have only taken the cart to the gas station twice.

So you can't hear a car's horn or an emergency vehicle. Sounds good! (bad pun intended)

I have a 2013 gas yamaha fi. It is not any quieter but does get better fuel millage. My cart has a tail pipe extension to make sure fumes are vented away from cart. my seat is also insulated to keep down engine noise and heat. I have over 3000 miles on my cart in just over 9 months and I love it. Your range in a gas cart is around 350 miles on a tank of gas vs around 80 in an electric on a single charge. If you live south of 466a it can be a long ride to some villages destinations (50 minutes by cart to Nancy Lopez) where the range of a gas cart can make a big difference

I have used unleaded gas for the past 13 years. No problem with carbs or smell. No addative needed.

I only use ear phones on the golf cart trails not the streets. Have yet to see an emergency vehicle on a golf cart trail.

As a die hard electric cart owner you couldn't give me an gas cart, they stink, they are loud. I like to hear my stereo and just cruise The Villages
