For 2008 Yamaha gas golf cart owners here is what I had to do. First, remove the rubber floor board matting which is attached with removable grommets. This exposes a metal plate which covers the brake and accelerator lever mechanism. Once this plate is removed (no fasteners) you can see the brake switch and two wires going to it. When the brake pedal is depressed the pin attached to the brake switch moves forward thus activating the switch. I detached the wiring to the switch and connected the two wires together and low and behold the brake lights worked. Obviously the problem was with the switch which I removed and took apart. After activating it several times with WD40 applied I checked the switch with my continuity tester. The switch now works. I installed the switch, attached the wiring, replaced the floor cover plate and matting and now my brake lights work.
