What is done for those who go 15mph or slower????

My cart has a digital speedometer and I was doing 19 to 20 mph
and people were tailgating so I finally pulled over to let them
pass.
Was just wondering if I was the only "slow" one out there.

I personally think it's fast enough so you can enjoy the pretty
Scenery every where you go in T.V.
(But must you tailgate?)

You are definitely not alone out there. Just ignore the tailgaters. The opinions of rude and irresponsible people are deeply deeply discounted.

My cart is probably one of the faster ones in the Villages but I don't tailgate , I don't pass until it's safe to do so. I m perplexed. Why is everyone concerned about me getting a ticket? Are you all going to pay it for me?

It is not a question of whether you agree with me unless you dispute the facts that a golf cart that is capable of going faster than 20 mph is an illegal unregistered vehicle and as such cannot be insured against liability.

I think this is a misconception, you cart must go 20mph to travel on any road that has a speed limit of 35mph or less. now there is another law that states no company may sell a device (motor, programmer) that allows a cart to travel faster than 25mph. Now these cart paths may have different rules depending on the state or part of the state you live not sure which supersedes the other.
but to say a cart is limited to a single mph (20) seems a bit tight.

Now how many of you same people have cars that exceed the posted speed limits posted on the highway? maybe you should complain about this also.

Most LSV's including golf carts that were made for LSV use had a speed limit of max 25mph including the Villager which has been produced since 2001 or 2002.

Now a slight incline may cause a cart with a small problem to slow and a cart with new batteries cables to go a bit faster and pass but the actual speed may be well within the limits of the law, you need to have the facts first (reality check) before complaining.

Actually I also lose sleep over people saving chairs at the squares and other pointless items I have no control over. I quess I'm worried to death.

This has been beaten to death on this forum for several years. The Florida statutes have also been re-printed here. What you do with your "golf cart" on private property is your business and the statutes do not apply. Once that golf cart is on public streets and/or public access (parking lots, multi modal paths, etc.) then the law applies and there is no correlation to cars and trucks. There are separate statutes which define what those are.

Steve is correct according to Florida law. All you have to do is google the law to see how Florida defines golf carts. If you are in an accident with your golf cart and it is set higher than 20 miles an hour you are not covered under regular golf cart insurance. Ours was set by The Villages Golf Carts. They absolutely refuse to set it higher (actually I think the maximum speed on ours is set for 19.5). They do this because they will not accept the liability for faster carts.

I agree I think people need laws because their donkeys in a hole. this is just not good behavior and these people have no regard for anyone else.

and the rest of us learn from them because we will be left out in the cold if we don't adapt.

The people passing me were going more like 25, because
they passed and far out distanced me quickly. FYI.
