Default Golf Cart Speed Increase

Our 2016 Yamaha Golf Cart with a carburetor engine has increased the speed from exactly 20 MPH to almost 25 MPH by itself. I tried the adjustment with the screw several years ago and after riding it around the block put it back to 20 MPH and put Locktite on the thread and took a picture of where the adjustment should be. It has not moved. What else could it be? I don't want it faster than 20 MPH as it is just not safe IMHO.

Our three adult boys drive the cart when they visit and I would like to get it taken care of before they arrive again. I do not want to move the adjustment nut on the rod because I'm certain it is in the correct position. Any ideas? It has to be something else.

Sounds like you have governor problems. If you bought it new it should still be under warranty. Take it down to Villages Golf Cart shop and have them look at it. It’s not a uncommon problem.

Our 2013 Yamaha did the very same thing. We were in it one day as normal, no problems, came back from being out of town for a week, speedster cart! Villages carts replaced the governor as a one time warranty fix, no charge.

I'm not sure that Rick Scott has anything to do with it
