We have also purchased from the Villages Golf Cart Shop in Lake Sumter Landing. Glen was the sales rep. We bought a new Yamaha Electric in 2005 and are extremely happy with the sales and service. Last year we had the batteries changes from a 4 12 volt battery system to an 8 6 volts battery system and are getting over 60 miles per charge.

ronsgc and gego3650, I notice that both of you post exclusively on issues related to Tomberlin and Alumacar respectively. Are you just happy owners of these carts or do you have a business relationship with the companies?

Is the general opinion that a gas golf cart or an electric cart is best?

imho.....Gas carts have a better range than battery powered but are noisier and gag those that drive behind them in the tunnels. Better to be a leader than a follower in tunnels. :beer3:

There is no clear-cut, prevailing opinion on this subject. The opinions expressed are split close to 50-50. Chuckster hit on the differences that are most frequently discussed.

If you read through old posts in this section, you will see and learn of the pros/cons of both types. It really boils down to your personal choice.

Very Satisfied with this cart dealer.....

My wife and I just returned from the Villages, and after checking out several Golf Cart dealers, decided to go with Clubs and Carts :eclipsee_gold_cup: on Hwy 27 just before you get to Ocala. Ted was great, and we got a very heavily loaded 2010 Yamaha gas cart for $9600 including tax. I priced a similar model at Lake Sumter and it came to about $800 more. I also think the quality and workmanship Ted puts into his carts is very customer centrix. He really goes out of his way to explain and help you decide on how to "pimp" up your ride. We got a good deal, and can't wait for it to be delivered... Good Luck.

golf cart dealer

I and several of my friends bought our carts at Carts and Clubs on 27/441 just south of Ocala. They have a new large showroom just past the old drive-in movie on the left side of the hwy. They sell new Yahama carts but also sell used carts. They cannot advertise in the villages so word of mouth is how they have sold hundreds of carts in the Villages. They must be doing something right. When I sat down with Ted (owner) and selected all the custom items (color, enclosure material, blower, wheel type, dashboard style, etc.) he said it would be 10 days for him to build it to my specs. I then expected him to ask for a down payment but he just said a hand shake is all he needed.

I got prices on a new Yamaha gas cart from The Villages Yamaha and Clubs and Carts. I found the price of new carts to be virtually identical. Is there any real reason not to buy in The Villages for convenience?

It seems that the base price of a factory model is about $6400 from either. Online, I see many places offering the same version for $4800, so I think that Villagers are getting somewhat taken by both. Has anyone been able to bargain on a new cart. I can't imagine walking into a new car showroom and paying whatever the sales person decided to first quote me.

Accessories also seem to be with large markups. A Yamaha cooler is $85 from the dealer and about $25 online. Can you imagine walking into Walmart's and paying $85 for a small 6 pack cooler?

Ocala Yamaha or Villages Yamaha

We also did shop both Ocala Yamaha and The Villages and found pricing very close. It boiled down for us to buying from someone we believe will be there to service us in the future. We can't imagine The Villages golf Car Stores going out of business as we understand they are owned by The Villages. We have watched over the years alot of stores close their doors.

Our experience with Carts and Clubs of Ocala

We purchased from Carts and Clubs in Ocala. 4450 S.Pine Avenue on Rte.27 about a quarter mile from the old drive in movie screen on the left going north. Phone 352-351-2278. Yamaha gas and other carts. C & C is owned by Ted and Connie Dunlap from Illinois. Ted spent two hours with us explaining how his carts are better than others. The Sunbrella enclosure by Red Dot has fasteners that are not in the fabric so that fabric fatigue is not a problem. They replace the wiring harness with one that is more heavy duty. The exhaust extension is welded on and is ¾ inch tubing. The warranty is 6 mos. bumper to bumper whereas other dealers only offer 90 days. While other dealers offer a balance of five years, it is only a power train warranty. C&C offers two years B to B beyond the first six months, but those two years exclude the battery that is only warranted for one year. In addition belts, tune-ups and oil changes are not included in those two years. Beyond that C&C offers 2 extra years power train plus an additional year. Thus, C&C’s warranty is superior to many others. There is extra insulation in the car and many extra bolts and screws are added for attaching accessories including the enclosure. Ted took us back to the manufacturing part of the shop so we could see for ourselves the quality that goes into each cart. C&C manufactures its own speedometer bracket that is very strong and the speedometer is mounted on the steering column. The steering wheel is raised and the turn signals are wired separately from the headlights so the headlights do not dim when your turn signals are on. They connect the speedometer to the wheel hub, rather than the wheel itself. That way if you have your tires rotated it doesn’t affect your speedometer readings. The windshield air dam is excellent with rubber seals top and bottom.

All in all Ted and Connie took the time to make us feel at home and even provided us with bottled water. We felt comfortable with them. Ted gave us straight talk about which accessories to purchase and which ones were not a good idea.

We recommend that when you are ready to purchase a golf cart that you start your research at Carts and Clubs. Oh yes one more thing, don’t expect to buy any golf clubs at Carts and Clubs, Ted isn’t in that business anymore and the only golf clubs he has left in his office appear to have been new around the time Noah was trying to avoid that REALLY BIG water hazard.
