Not a gas versus electric thread
This is not a question asking about the pros and cons of gas versus electric. I'm really just asking for peoples' eyeball generalizations of what type of cart (gas vs electric, club/EZGO/Yamaha, Atomics and customs, etc.) they see as a percentage of market share.
Does it seem that gas carts are 30, 50, or 70% of what everyone uses? Does the majority of carts seem to be Club Cars or Yamahas or EZGOs? Are there really that many people out there with Atomic Cool Carts or other customized rides? While I have my preferences on some things, like Sea-Doos PWCs over Kawasaki or Yamaha, I generally tend to go with what the majority are using (Yamaha Wave Riders) for my area. I do this not only for ability to obtain parts and service easily, but also because of demand when it comes time to sell. Thanks. |

My opinion is that in The Villages, the vast majority of carts are gas Yamaha. I will make a guess at 80%.

Currently Yamaha gas but a growing number of electric.

There are no statistics, so any percentages are pure guesses. Electric (lithium) is the only way to go. You’ll get about 50-60 miles of range and wake up every morning to a full charge!

Most issues, there is no such thing as a perfect answer. Interesting to me. At one time golf carts used two cycle engines. Simple, cheap and dirty. I bet the ads said no oil changes necessary. That is,was true but it is lipstick on a pig. |

If you are younger, go ahead and try electric.
I am getting too old to walk home.

The only people "walking home" are those who decide not to spend $30 per year for Kart Aide (or equivalent service). While I have not seen any statistics, I would bet the number 1 cause of being stopped is a flat tire and that has nothing to do with whether you have an electric or gas golf cart.

Everything I have that's lithium battery powered works great when new. After a year, not so much. |

No, it wasn't. She has posted numerous times on how she believes electric carts will leave you stranded and she went off topic. Opinions really don't matter.
