The Star Cart battery meter is nonlinear. You need to install the Star Lithium App that talks to the battery. I had a loaner and my range was 71 miles.

I have a lithium cart with a 205ah battery. I can go between 70-75 miles with 10% battery remaining (I've done it twice), and my cart is set at a top speed of a bit over 20mph. I generally charge when my cart dips below 40%.

Range for a lithium cart is completely dependent on the quality of your BMS (Battery Management System). A 205ah battery will get you in the 70-75 mile range for an Evolution D5 Ranger. The same in another manufacturer's cart will yield a different result depending on the efficiency of the carts forward motion (bearings, drivetrain, etc), the overall weight of the cart and it's contents, and the BMS.

I still don't understand the whole "public service announcement" part of the post.

You know wind drag has a lot to do with it, maybe some folks are hauling something huge that's catching a lot of wind. :a20:

My cart has a new 210 Ah battery. Getting just under 1 mile distance for each 1% of battery capacity. Example: 32 miles driven to view residential Christmas light displays at speeds varying from 14 to 22 mph - battery capacity remaining was 65%. Dealer says that over the first few months of use, battery capacity will increase slightly. He also said to abide by the “ABC” directive when the cart is returned from a trip - ALWAYS BE CHARGING.

Also, I was behind the smelliest loudest gas cart the other day and had to pull over just to get away from the fumes.

I agree. Especially about the smelly fumes.

TVGC has a 24 hour test drive program...Anyone can test the range of the 210ah cart before they buy...Amirite?

Does it even occur to you that maybe your cart is broken?

The Star carts use a LFP battery that you should charge after every use in order to not get BMS drift.

TVGC has very special ones that even surpass Star's mileage estimation.

& mine runs fine, exactly the same as the other 3, in various configurations.

My point was, real life experience is usually more practical than anecdotal information or manufacturer's or dealer's marketing estimates. it depends on how you use the product. Put on some running lights, a sound bar and drive it like you stole it ... you're not going to exceed the marketing specs.

In Star EV's the software manages BMS drift and can be updated and monitored from the App.

Most people who have been aound for a while will only buy gas carts. Why do you think EV's are so unpopular?

Where are EV carts unpopular? They seem to be wildly popular here. There is no doubt in my mind that my next cart will be electric just like my current one.

We really like our electric. We struggled with the decision before we bought but since then we continue to be happier with it purchase. I'm even considering a play electric car. I'm still hooked on petrol for our long distance car but when the tech and infrastructure catch up I'll use electric for that too.

The Villages Car Store did a youtube test on several battery carts. Good to know info. Check them out.

How are the TVGC carts "Special"? Can you be more specific? Why don't they offer their "Special" carts to their customers?

The MMP is now open down Marsh Bend to Central Parkway. I think 210ah is minimum :)

EZGO now offers a 6.2 lithium configuration good for about 90 miles. I don't know if TVGC carries them yet. I still think the Atlas 210ah cart is the best value.

I test drove the Atlas right before I bought my Evolution, I really liked it and if they offered a 4 forward facing I probably would have bought one. They are nicer than a Star cart but less money. They are more money and about equal to an Evolution but made in USA and by a group that has been making carts a long time (for other companies). The ride wasn't quite a good as an Evolution with 2 people in both carts, as soon as you put a heavy person in that back of the Atlas the ride went from pretty good to pretty bad. It had more of a teeter totter effect than any of the other 2 forward/2 rearward facing carts. If felt like the front end was just skimming the ground any time you went over a bump.

If you're always just 2 people I think I'd go with Atlas, if you ever haul more than 2 I'd go with an Evolution. Star is over priced and and just not as high of quality as the Atlas. Also, I see EZGO has a new 4 forward facing cart that looks really nice, I've never seen one in person.

The upside of an Evolution is you can easily get 70 miles on a charge and have 10-12 percent battery left (every time, regardless of what some people might tell you) and you can buy one for a song.

That’s 10 miles or so from Brownwood, some will have range anxiety even with a 210. :)

I may take a cruise down there next week when the temps improve. The Marsh Bend route will save my a couple miles over the other options.

You may laugh, but this is actually very true. My cart will get an extra 5 miles on a full charge if the front window is down as opposed to up.
