Default Trying to increased the speed of a DC Club Car

I have a 48 volt 2005 Club Car. Currently, the max speed is 19 and that is with the tires fully inflated. My research found a couple ways to increase the speed, install a Navitas system or replace with a high speed motor. Has anyone had either done? I would love to get my cart to 20 at least. Most times it is 17-18 (and that is with my pedal pressed to the floor)due to tires not being fully inflated.

UPDATE....Had The Masters Golf Cars install a new motor, couldn't be happier with their work and professionalism. I highly recommend them. Thank you for the 2 posters who recommended them. Golf Carts in Central Florida - Masters Golf Cars

Florida law limits golf cart speed to 20 mph.

Taller tires will help too. You get about 1mph per inch of height. I bought some nice chrome ones too.

The Navitas system is expensive. The high speed motor is cheaper. Tires and wheels was cheaper than either of those. 20x10r10 fit just fine but I added a 1inch lift plate just to be sure. Fits just fine under all the bridges up north.

You never mentioned what size tires so I guess and say 8 inch rims.

IMo fully inflated 8” tires not going get you much.

You can get 10” tires/rims for the back and punch the number in here. See how much speed increase you get.

OP is asking an honest question. No need to throw under the Bus. We all know the legal speed limit. My educated guess is that over half the golf carts in TV can go over 20mph. That doesn’t mean you have to go 25mph but it does give you passing speed when you come upon a cart going 14-15mph. My recommendation is to ask a golf cart mechanic when you get it serviced. My engineer friend set my gas cart for 23 mph. If I had doors, Many many carts “blow my doors off”! In a car at 75mph at least 30 cars and 6 trucks passed me between Wildwood and Gainesville a couple weeks ago. Like it or not that’s reality…

I had a similar situation with an older club car. I installed 10 inch rims with low profile tires. This got me from 19 to 21 for the top speed. With the low profile tires there was no need for a lift kit.

Default Change the controller

The "Navitas system" you are referring to is the controller. This electronic box if you will, controls many aspects of the golf cart. In basic terms, it tells the motor what to do. You would be able to adjust top speed, back up speed, throttle rate, torque, and regenerative braking. Yes, it's actually that impressive. Alltrax is another brand that would work. You could expect a top speed of 25 mph.

I switched from 8 Inch rear tires to 10 inch. Got two more mph. Stopped leading the parade.

Default HS motor

I had a club car precedent with max speed of about 19.x on the flat. Going up hill it was a few mph worst. I had a High speed motor put in that now gets me up hills about 19.x and few mph better on the flat, I didn't want a hot rod motor just one that would give me a few mph up hills and ability to pass some of the really slow carts and not have to worry about getting long side them and not being able to pass without getting hit by a on coming cart. Best decision I made. Tires are std 8". The hot rod gas carts can blow me away but they are probably on their way to the other side of the Villages and need to put their peddle to the metal ... They must also have really good accident insurance

Many mechanics and repairs shops will not service them if they have been "souped up" We all know the law says one writer.. SO OBEY IT FOR A CHANGE then we can all benefit. A cart is not built for higher speed if its changed then it become dangerous otherwise. Next we will have the grandkids driving them, with gramps in front and gran " hanging" on the back as seen Wed along Sunset Pointe Blvd......

Strap on a rocket launcher and you can go past 20 mph with no problem.
