Default What % of TV golf carts are 'souped' up?

After watching the Sunday, May 22 CBS special on TV golf carts, I was wondering what % of TV golf carts are souped up (heavily customized), such as the '57 Chevy or other beautiful carts?

I would guess 5% (1 out of every 20 golf carts). But I may be wrong.

Anybody care to venture their % guess? Just for the fun of it <g>.

What a great CBS special it was!

Based on nothing but sitting at the Urban Flats bar and watching the carts go by, I would guess a little higher then 5%. Not 10% but somewhere in between. Maybe 7% or 8%. But then again, those are the carts that would be "cruzin" not parked on the street.

Actually, compared to the golf carts you use at your country clubs 'back home'... I would guess that 100% of the golf carts here are souped up or what they call 'Villages ready'. They have headlights, side curtains, coolers, etc. Your basic model golf cart in TV is already souped up when you buy it, and then you can add on even more options.

I think we become accustomed to seeing our standard souped up golf carts everywhere in TV, but if you took your basic golf cart 'back home' with you, everybody would think you had the most fantastic golf cart in the world, and it doesn't even look like a fire truck.

Default Souped Up = Faster????

Perhaps, a better term might be "customized." When I first read the post, I thought the reference was to how many carts had been altered to go faster.

Exactly 8.943% are customized..........maybe.

I'd say something in the 5-10% range is probably a pretty close SWAG.

I agree, "souped up" in the 50's meant performance enhanced. Anyway the percent is small.
It's like back in the 50's when you had a hot car you wanted to been seen in, you cruised Main Street. Now, cruise the squares where the percent you'll see is actually higher than the real total.

Default Thanks for your responses

Thanks all, for your responses. Consensus appears to be that 5-10% of the golf carts in TV are souped up (super customized).

I would loved to have seen the 4,000+ golf carts in the TV event last year during the Guiness (sp?) record-setting longest parade of golf carts. I remember reading here that one woman -- who didn't own a golf cart -- rented one so she could be part of the fun event. Talk about spirit!

In essence, that's what TV is all about -- spirit. That's what made viewing the CBS special on May 22, 2011 so fun to watch and....re-watch.

Gene (and Kathy, too)
