There is no enforcement of anything golf cart related unless you have an accident, drive on a road you shouldn't be (and then they only escort you to where you need to drive) or are intoxicated. They will ticket if they see you go through a stop sign or red light in the town squares because that impacts the safety of pedestrians. There just aren't enough LEO's to provide effective enforcement here so they focus on the important stuff.

Although, in the Villages, apparently every golf-cart-owning disabled person is a special snowflake and parks in them anyway.

But some day, should you ever do that and find yourself with a ticket on your golf score-card clipboard, you'll know why.
How would it be possible for a police officer to write a ticket on an unregistered vehicle?

How can they ticket a 14 year old that doesn't have a license? I don't even think that they can require that a 14 year old produce and ID.

According to a local sheriff, once you turn old enough to have a drivers license (16), you must have a drivers license to operate the cart on the streets and multi-modal paths. After the age of 16, if you don't have a license or lose your license, you are not legally allowed to operate the golf cart there.

As I remember, they ticket the owner of the cart which is the parent or grandparent who is usually in the cart. All depends on the violation and the LEO.

May I ask then why did you bring up a thread no one had posted on for two years....... knowing people only read parts of a thread? IMHO it's very likely people may only see some of the "downright scary" misinformation.

If a golf cart goes faster than 20 mph then it’s a unregistered mv and a 14 year old arrested for murder need not produce a ID.

I recently received a handicap placard at Motor Vehicle Office. The service rep asked how many vehicles do I have. I said one. He then asked if I had a golf cart. I said yes, he said I need one for that also. So, I have two with separate registration numbers on them. So, yes, you can get it for golf carts.

Governor DeSantis signed into law effective October 1, 2023 That you must be 18 years old and have a valid drivers license or learners permit to drive a golf cart. The exception is in the villages if the cart stays on the multi model path the younger age of 16 applies. BUT as soon as a golf cart leaves the golf cart path and goes onto a public road the new law is applied .......so lets just say 18 and drivers license and everyone will be safe.

With all due respect, that’s not correct.

Here is a summary of the new law. “According to HB 949, golf cart drivers under 18 must be at least 15 with a learner's permit or 16 with a driver's license. Anyone who is 18 or older must have a valid government-issued ID. Previously, Florida law allowed a 14-year-old to drive a golf cart.”
