Yamaha Recall

There's no need to panic. Both of my 21s were included, and I got notification from both the dealer (VGC) and the factory.
It seems that there is a 1% chance that the accelerator spring might fail.
I'm waiting for the panic to subside before I go.
My buddy sat in line for 15 minutes before his 10-minute fix.
Remember, any dealer service will flag the outstanding recall like a car would.

Yes I was in that line with hundreds of carts. I arrived at 9:30 am and left at 1:00 pm I know this seems like a long wait but the line kept moving along and the process was very efficient. Glad I have it done.

I arrived at 10am for the 7am - 2pm repair window and was told the line was CLOSED. Better luck somewhere else.

I arrived at 10am and I couldn’t believe the number of golf carts in lines. I saw an employee and asked him where I should go and he told me they were not allowing any more golf carts to get in line and to try in another date. Think I’ll wait till the panic calms down.

For those of you that never uncovered the floor box. Here some photo’s I routinely clean out that area due to road dirt/sand get in there and grits moving areas up. As you can see there are 4 springs, large spring ( which probably the recall one?) switch spring, and small brake lever lock spring. The only spring I had trouble with with 20 Plus thousand miles in my cart was the brake release bracket spring. The end bend broke off so I had to re-bend the end and drill hole in brake lever to hold it in place. This area gets dirty and dirt causes excessive wear when parts move against each other on shafts. Why I clean it out every few months. I don’t use a lot of grease cause that collects the dust get hard and turns into sand paper.

Anyone ever notice some people cannot just answer a question with the answer, they have to add some snarky jane at the questioner when they do?

Any guesses as to what makes people choose rudeness when it literally takes more effort to be rude?

kcrazorbackfan 03-26-2025 07:53 AM

Good luck….

I get sarcastic sometimes, a bad habit I need to confront along with some others. I guess I’m not prefect even though my grandmother told me so….

I question this don't look like the right spring. Response - Yamaha has a recall on this spring - no charge sir. Given this was 3 years ago I myself wouldn't be in a rush to be standing in long lines.

The recall about that time ago was for a brake spring. This time the recall is for the accelerator spring, which comes in a sort of assembly. Arrived in Brownwood today at 6:45am. In line for about an hour & a half. When leaving the line was very long

Well now that everyone knows there'll be a line, I suggest turning it into a positive. I present to you:

The Recall Party!

Bring a cooler, a bluetooth speaker, your favorite play-list, and dance the hours away. Play musical carts when it's time to move up in line.

Funny I went to Everglades a couple weeks ago.

Line was huge

Got to the first station and guy looked at my pedal ,"standing n side of cart" and said "yours doesn't need it you ok to go home"

Mines a 2023

Not sure what he saw as the spring does not look visible from where he was standing

Today's wait for Yamah spring recall

I noticed them looking at the pedals on the carts in line the day I was there.

The new assembly uses brackets and bolts at the ends rather than a bend in the spring itself. It's pretty easy to see the end of the bolt and the heavier spring through the hole in the floor board.

Nope - it was definitely the accelerator spring. Accelerator pedal went to the floor with no return. I installed it myself. It was the big spring in the picture Topspinmo posted.

After hearing about the long wait times at LSL we went to Brownwood this am arriving around 6:15am. Four lanes with about 8-9 carts in each lane. Very organized. Started working on carts at 6:30am, we were done at 6:50am and on the way to breakfast. Line of carts coming in was very long.
