The technicians conducting the change are not employees of the Villages Golf Cart shop, they work directly for Yamaha.

Did you happen to get a part # of the assembly? Or a photo?

Didn't think to do that. At the event I attended there was a table full of the assemblies with several of them open. Anyone could walk over to the table and take a picture.

In the pictures above you can see the current spring is a single coil which has a loop at each end to attach it. The new assembly consists of two springs, one inside the other, made of heavier material, and with a bracket and bolt at each end rather than a loop.

Sure would be nice if someone could get a photo of the part and part #.

Here old recall in 2018, the same, accelerator spring.

I read 2016 to present. They were looking at them on arrival at the Everglades location and telling people whether it needed replaced. After sitting in line, when I got to the repair station the Yamaha tech said that only a small percentage have failed, but TV decided to replace them all because if it happens, it stays in the full throttle position.

60 min/hour / 5 min/cart/technician -> 12 cart/hour/technician * 4 technician -> 48 cart/hour ~ 50 carts/hour

The Yamaha recall notice says NOT TO DRIVE CART UNTIL IT IS REPLACED. Having said that, hasn’t broke yet, 2000 miles in 4 months. Going to see if I can get a spring handed to me, swap out myself. But I don’t think the dealer will do that, liability and all. In which case, it will wait til my 2500 mile service. If then…

I have a 2024, and received the letter…

My want to double check by serial number. Mine is a 2024 and I received the recall letter. I don’t believe this to be a hurry and fix deal. The springs may have a slight crease in them from a bad production run. The creased area may eventually fail. Only takes a quick second to pull any floor may and the floor board to take a peak.

If you bought a cart form Village Discount Golf they won't notify you of recalls. Their emphasis is on "discount"

Does the letter you received have a table of affected models by year and serial number like the link in post #5 does?

Just wonder if it's limited to the 2023 year mentioned in the recall on the Yamaha motors CPSC recall page, the 2016-2022 years as noted in the link on post #5, or almost any year seeing as you received a letter for your 2024.
