Default Yamaha clutch slippage issue..

I have two Yamaha carts. One I bought from Carts and Clubs and the other (my wife's cart) we bought from TV Carts. My cart is a 2012 and a half and is a carburetor cart about 16 months old. Since buying the cart it has slipped when I have two people on the cart and most of the time on the golf course but sometimes on the street. Carts and Clubs has replaced the clutch and has since put two heavy duty belts on the cart but it still slips. I have been so frustrated I today called Yamaha and they told me that the reason is that both Carts and Clubs and TV Carts installs after market clutches on these carts along with a high speed gear and larger tires. The owner of Carts and Clubs says they do not install any different clutch on the cart. None of this was told to me when buying either cart. I today spoke with the owner of Carts and clubs and he said he can fix the problem by installing the older clutch that was used before the 2012 and a half carts came out. Cost to me $225. He said Yamaha has refused to help him so he is selling the clutch at his cost and no installation fee. I think he is not being treated fairly by Yamaha and I do not feel this is right. I bought two brand new carts and was told they were under a 5 year warranty from Yamaha and was not told anything about a problem with the clutches. My questions is are others having the same problem? I am considering an attorney writing a letter to Yamaha. By the way my wife's 2013 fuel injected cart also slips.

We had the clutch replaced today. Not happy paying 225. Hoping the problem is fixed.

Having spoken with Yamaha they are refusing to help any when they have a defective clutch on their carts that are still under warranty. I can easily afford the $225 for each cart but it is the principle of the issue that we were not told about this when we bought the carts. They should all be recalled and replaced and I intend to get the word out.

I have a 2012-1/2, carburetor with 2500 mls bought from C&C.
I am not having this problem. Wonder if I got an earlier clutch?
Keep us posted.

Have a 2013 Yahama FI and got some slippage. Carts and Clubs came out, replaced the clutch and belt, cart runs great now. I really like the guys at Carts and Clubs but I must say Yamaha leave a bit to be desired.

I fully understand that but when you have "authorize dealers" like Carts and Clubs and TV Carts and then allow them to sell carts (knowing full well that they modify them), allow them to extend the Yamaha warranty to the consumer and then refuse to include the bad clutch in the warranty that is wrong and grounds for a class action lawsuit.

When you guys say slippage is it when the cart is cold and moving for the first time of the day? When it slips is it at slow speed from a dead stop?? Ive got a 2013 with lift kit and big tires and havnt had anything that feels like slippage. Cart is heavily modded with free flow air filter, modded air box, bigger carb jets, governor bypassed. 26.5 mph on gps. Hauls the mail for sure.

Just had my clutch cleaned and a new belt done at TV in Sumter Landing. Runs great and no cost! Mine is a 2013 w/3400 miles.

I don't own a Yamaha gas cart so my knowledge may be limited.

I did hear conversations about replacing the belt with a better Kevlar enforced belt similar to the materials they use on motorcycles.

To those that have responded, did you have your clutch belts replaced by a Kevlar belt?
