I see it was Tall Trees. I have seen coyotes by the Belvedere Library before and there is one in the vicinity that I saw about six months ago in Lynnhaven which was the size of a large German Shepherd. This was around 3 PM but it was moving at a good pace to the West.

If you saw a coyote the size of a large German Shepherd it wasnt a coyote. Most likely a coywolf.

I wonder if it was one of the chihuahuas I would see with a woman walking a baby carriage often around the Belvedere Library? She had two small dogs in the carriage. And it seems to me they were chihuahuas.

So sorry for this woman's loss. And I know a few people who have two small dogs and they seem often extremely bonded to one another.

Very interesting. Thanks.
I'v seen numerous well fed coyote type animals since we moved here 5 years ago. Not at all like the scrawny ones out west.

Even the fox here are larger than I have seen elsewhere. Lots of food available!

Both Orlando channel 6 and 9 did stories about the incident on their Friday evening news. They both had reporters in TV and interviewed neighbors, showed the street and showed a picture of the dog. It was a 3 year old 14 pound long hair dog. The people also had their pug in the yard at the same time, which looked even smaller but the coyote went for the bigger dog. They were in the front yard and there was two people in the yard with the dog but it was not on a leash. Here's a link to the channel 9 story.

Their Here

Our back yard security lights went on around midnight a few weeks ago. Looked out and it was an animal the size of a large dog walking around the property. :sigh:

PennBF. What village are you in? Coyotes are usually about 45 lbs but some of those reported in the Villages seem larger including one I saw in Lynnhaven about six months ago at about 3:00 PM. This one was moving along to get out of the area. I was going to rescue what looked like a loose dog-- a German shepherd-- but when I got closer noticed that it moved a lot like a coyote.

Coyote spotted 3:35 PM 1/19/2017. Belmont GC. Lynnhaven.

I was driving home from getting a flu shot at CVS on CR466 while deviating by going on Alcott Avenue to get to the Lynnhaven Postal Center to pick up my mail. Crossing the street at Alcott and near the west part of Due West Drive was what I thought was a loose though well fed German Shepard. But on closer look I believe this was an alpha coyote. Strange to see this at 3:30 PM or so.

Did anyone else see it? There were golfers on the Belmont Golf Course that I could see just south of Morven Parkway.
