The Wikipedia on Petey seems to describe two of these Petie's as having rings around the eye. Not sure though as it is poorly written.

This dog with the ring was Pal the Wonder Dog?? Pal the Wonder Dog in "Somewhere In Wrong" (1925) - YouTube

Just as much as I believe that almost all Golden Retrievers have a genetic predisposition to gentleness and Border Collies have a lively intelligence and some little doggies to barkiness.

Gracie, again we are in total agreement. If I say I don't trust pitbulls I am automatically treated as if I hate the breed...What people don't seem to understand is the (as you stated) genetic predispositions in the various breeds, eg. Dachshunds burrow, retrievers retrieve, beagles hunt, greyhounds run fast, etc..etc. If I have a child I would choose a breed that is known to play well with kids. I would not get a Chow, or a little dog that is easily frightened or a Pitbull. I would not take even the slightest chance on a dog breed that is known to attack and not stop until they have killed. I personally think that anyone that takes this chance with their children has serious problems. Why take the chance??????. I don't care if 90 out of a hundred are the best dogs in the whole world, I wouldn't risk my child for that 10%. All they have to do is look at statistics regarding dog bites and attacks. I don't get it.

Pinellas County, Florida - Animal Services - Pit Bulls

This is a good discussion of pit bulls and whether you should get one.

I have really only got to know one pit bull mix at Doggie Doo Run Run and the owner showers love on Jade and controls her very well. It does depend on how much time and attention you put into the dog.

Our neighbor in Palm Harbor, Florida treated his pit bulls very badly but the animal control people who treated one of their wounds-- after he dragged her/him on the road while trying to exercise it-- said that these two dogs were very friendly even if one was hurt. Northpinellas: 2 pit bulls dragged by car, 1 injured
