Default Black cat sighted...seemed friendly

A black cat ran behind our house in Labelle near Junction and Lancelot Terrace. He had a wire or 'something' caught around his neck so I tried to call him but he was scared of me. His coat was thick and shiny and he otherwise looked friendly. His tail was either bobbed or something recently got him. I put out a little food in case he wandered back. He looks like someone's nice pet.

If the Cat strolls around near you, definitely try to get that wire off of it's neck. It must be someones pet that got out, or is an outside cat of somebody's.

If you manage to be close with the cat, still check for it's ID tags and see if it really is someone's cat, then notify the possible owners. If there is no form of ID...then, uh, free cat. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I wonder if debfrommaine still has a humane cat trap apparatus. This poor thing needs to have the wire removed, whether it's someone's pet or feral.
