We are going to The Villages for the month of March and will have our Golden Retriever, the family pet, with us. We take him to a park here (outside of Boston) and are looking forward to the park there. We will be staying in Liberty Park - which dog park would you all recommend? What time of day gets most active? Also are the meetings still taking place 1st Wednesday of the month?

There is a TEN-ACRE private dog park on CR 101 called Doggie Doo Run Run which is wonderful and well maintained (north/west quadrant of TV).
It costs $3 per visit or $25 per month for unlimited visits.
We pay $30 per month for our two dogs. They love it there, most dogs do.
There is a part for small dogs and another for dogs over 30 lbs.
And another five-acre fenced area with hanging swings - it is very relaxing there.
We visit DDRR at least once a day so our dogs can romp off leash.
It's a wonderful group of dog lovers and a good place to make new friends.
If you want more information and detailed instructions on how to get there, please PM me.

if you are staying in Liberty Park you will be very close to Brinson-Perry dog park on the other side of the roundabout off Buena Vista. While not an ideal park (it's on a hill) there is a big dog side and many people have goldens. I've never been to Doggie Doo Run but I hear it's far superior. but for convenience the one close to you may be fine.

If you do decide to give Doggie Doo Run Run a try, your dog has to be neutered, and bring a copy of his vacs to leave with them.

I am so happy to hear that there will be a new dog park built south of 466A. I hope it will become a reality very soon. It seems that this project has been in the works for quit some time and I don't really understand why it takes TV years to build a dog park and a month to build an entire neighborhood. Just say'n......

It's all about the bottom line with The Developer. But better late than never.
We will stay at Doggie Doo Run Run because it is much closer for residents who live around CR 466.
Still, I am very happy for the folks who live south of CR 466A. YAY.

A quick question about DDRR...we went there once just to take a look (we didn't even have our dogs with us). There were no dogs there and nobody outside visible from the parking area. How do get started if that is case when you go there with your dog? Just wondering...we want to give it a try sometime.

The Villages not only gets paid for the houses they build -- they make a profit!

They will make zilch for donating the land that will become the dog park, including its infastructure.

Polar Bear, before the first time we went, I called them and asked what the procedure is.

But you don't have to talk to anyone. Just bring a copy of your dogs' vaccinations and leave it in the box marked same. Or leave it in the $ box along with $3 for one dog or $5 for two (or $25-30 for a month) at the little ledge where you sign in and pay.
