Default Fencing

Is there any type of fencing for a small dog that you have had approved by the Villages?

No fences.

Call ARC, 352-751-3912, and ask them directly, but as I understand the general requirements, no fences. We asked the same question for our cat, I was informed that if the fence was INSIDE the lanai, then it was OK, this works for a cat, but not a dog. You MIGHT be able to get away with a court yard villa, but you are going to need to check this out also.

Fencing with epees is approved by TV. However, dogs are not very good at this.

An option if allowed in your village might be to have a concrete area poured in the rear of your home and have landscaping blocks or a block wall installed around it. Have flower beds so you can wash the pee off the concrete.

We moved here from NJ with our dogs. The only option was to drive the if you do not want to fly. Trains do not take dogs. We took it slow and spent 2 nights in hotels on the way down.

There are courtyard villas with walls (no fence) and there are some already built houses in Pine Hills as well as down in the newest area south of 44 that have fences. BUT we are not allowed to put up our own. The electric fences probably aren't the best idea as we do have natural preditors living amongst us too. Such as coyotes, hawks etc. There have been pet fatalities due to those. IF your dog has to go out to relieve itself you will have to have it on a leash...always. We are a restricted community despite what many will say (there's always those that try to get away with not abiding with the rules). When you close on your homes you do sign papers saying you know of these rules.

Sorry...usually true but not “always”.

TV dog owners are subject to county leash laws. In Sumter County, the dog must be under “direct control”. From Sumter County code...

“...direct control shall also include aural or oral control, if the controlling person is at all times clearly and fully within the unobstructed sight and hearing of the animal.”

You would think because of the ongoing demand for fences, the developer would build an area where the houses have fences.
They would probably sell like hotcakes!

Seems houses here with or without fences are selling like hot cakes.
