My dog does all of that. However, I refuse to make him do some of that. he's a big happy dog who loves everybody, and I refuse to knock the happy stuffing out of him.

This thread is about a hole in the dog park fence. Dogs are taken to the park to run free, jump, chase balls, tumble, play with each other, in an environment where they can socialize safely. They are not taken to parks to heel, sit when stopped, and stay. those are for times out on the street, not in a dog park.

The purpose of the topic is to alert others to a hole in the park fence so that they can protect their pets.

Yes it is easy to train a dog to do or not do all of these things and more, but you have to train the owner too. Takes about 10 weeks...not much time considering how long you'll own the dog and they'll both be happier for the experience.

I am completely aware of all that you state. My dog and my neighbors dogs are all very well trained and behave as such. Myself and my neighbors are also very capable (trained as you put it). We have happy, healthy well behaved dogs and we are all very good owners.

I have not been to the new park to comment on the hole, but I do hope it gets filled in and the fence raised if needed.
